Here are the trends in music GCSE grades for 2019.

The main headlines are the subject has seen a 2 per cent fall in entries, with the proportion of pupils achieving a standard pass (grade 4) up by 0.8 percentage points to 75.5 per cent.

The number of grade 9s being issued is also up.

The data is based on the outcomes of 16-year-olds in England.
