We often speak about confidence as though it belongs solely to the individual. Some young people appear to carry it naturally. Others are encouraged to 鈥渇ind鈥 it, 鈥渂uild鈥 it, or simply 鈥渂elieve in themselves.鈥 Yet after more than 25 years working across the education, legal and public sectors and through my current role as an equity, diversity and inclusion lead in a girls鈥 grammar school I have come to believe this framing is far too narrow.
